Local man’s life changes after ALS Diagnosis

SAN ANTONIO – Two years ago, Dennis Carolin and his mother Tracie altered to San Antonio. The integrate altered from Maine after he supposed a position with Southwest Business Corporation.

“SWBC has been tremendous,” Carolin said.  “We feel like a partial of a family with that company.”

The integrate pronounced they were entering a new proviso in life, yet in February, that changed.

“My mother and we were out selling and we indeed fell,” Carolin said.  “I beheld that my left leg was removing weak.”

Carolin visited countless doctors and in Apr was diagnosed with amyotrophic parallel sclerosis or ALS. 

Carolin pronounced he was “shell-shocked.”  However, his mother wasn’t totally surprised.

“I had a feeling right from a start it was ALS,” Tracie Carolin’s said. “I approaching it, and even yet we approaching a diagnosis, it was still a shock.”

The integrate pronounced when they initial started going to a ALS hospital during a University of Texas Health Science Center, and met with staff members with a ALS Association who have been a large help. Tracie Carolin pronounced it is startling to see only how most a classification has helped.

“The things accessible to us … we had no idea,” Tracie said. “Something as elementary as a consume to assistance him rinse his feet is accessible to us. we had no idea.”

The Carolins pronounced it was startling to see how this illness has overwhelmed so many people.

“During this whole process, we’ve talked to people and it seems to me that everyone, when we speak about it, they know someone possibly in their family or a crony who had it,” Dennis Carolin said.

The integrate and their family started Team Dennis to assistance lift supports heading adult to a Walk to Defeat ALS set for Saturday. Dennis Carolin pronounced SWBC has also started a group in his respect and lifting income has turn a small competition.

The Walk to Defeat ALS will start during 11 a.m. during Woodlawn Lake Park.
