Redskins President of Business Operations Dennis Greene has worked with owners Dan Snyder for some-more than dual decades. As distant as we can tell, he’s been quoted by The Washington Post accurately once in that span: when we excerpted a Washingtonian square that quoted Greene vocalization to guest during a Washington Economic Club luncheon about a tentative merger of Robert Griffin III.

“I like being behind a scenes,” Greene told me this week. “That’s on purpose. I’ve been with Dan for 27 years — there’s a reason.”

But Greene was articulate this week, to foster his Thursday night coming during a cooking thrown by a internal section of a ALS Association. Greene’s mom was a former dancer for Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin who was still doing behind flips during age 50. A year or dual later, when Greene was still a teenager, she started tripping and limping for no apparent reason. For a subsequent year or so, but a diagnosis, a family attempted all demeanour of cures, including acupuncture. Finally, she perceived a diagnosis of amyotrophic parallel sclerosis, or Lou Gehrig’s disease. Before Greene graduated high school, his mom had died.

During her sickness, Greene would leave his work-study pursuit to revisit his mom and assistance lift her to a bathroom. He pronounced he can never forget a picture of a fly crawling on his mom’s arm, and her being unable to shoo it away. His father, he said, hardly slept for dual years while perplexing to make his mom gentle during night. And after her death, a family began ancillary ALS causes.

So when a internal ALS house member with a Redskins tie asked Greene to be a group’s fundraising honoree this year, he accepted, notwithstanding his standard hatred to open speaking. (Greene, 53, also gave the derivation residence for Oakton High when his daughter graduated in 2014; he cited Chris Cooley during his speech, like any good derivation orator would.)

“The honor’s great,” Greene pronounced Wednesday, “but unequivocally a whole indicate is only to get recognition out.”

Greene did not hold a middle workings of a Redskins’ front bureau during his singular (and brief) coming in front of a microphone. He did, however, tell ESPN 980 that his suite-buying customers are happier after an NFC East pretension than a alternative.

“It’s a lot easier this year than it was final year, I’ll tell we that,” Greene pronounced with a laugh.
