Star Wars premiere a night to remember for fan with ALS

BRUNSWICK, OH (WOIO) –
Thursday night was all about Star Wars, and one Brunswick fan got a special treat.
He got to see an early screening of a mega renouned movie, that enclosed a limo float to a theater.
42-year-old Jim Metz has been vital with ALS for a past 6 years.
Love for Star Wars runs low in a Metz family.
You can see it on a ornaments unresolved on their Christmas tree, each a impression from a film series.
But this year, a decorations aren’t during home. They’re in Jim’s hospice room.
Jim took a tumble progressing this year and has been vital during Willowood Care Center ever since.
When he was initial diagnosed, his mother Rachelle says they feared they would remove him right away.
“Back afterwards they told us he wouldn’t live 18 to 36 months. It’s been roughly six-and-a-half years, he’s doing unequivocally well,” she said.
It can be tough for Jim to remember things. But he hasn’t lost how large of a Star Wars fan he is.
Rachelle and his daughters Mikayla and Ruthie are creation family time together count.
“The dementia’s unequivocally been a tough onslaught for us, for someone during this age. Doctors don’t know it, people don’t know it,” Rachelle Metz said.
These Star Wars fans had a night to remember Thursday.
“I only can’t wait for tonight,” Mikayla Metz said.
“When we start removing down and think, ‘how most some-more of this can we take?’ Something like this happens,” Rachelle Metz said.
“Since a commencement of a day we can’t stop smiling since I’m so excited,” Ruthie Metz said.
Watching cinema is one thing a family can still do together.
Star Wars brought these high propagandize sweethearts together 17 years ago, and now they’ll delight it even more.
“That’s something we’ve unequivocally focused on a past several years, with his illness, it’s only creation memories. You’re not guaranteed tomorrow,” Rachelle Metz said.
The Metz family has turn an disciple in a quarrel to find a heal for ALS.
They’ve even testified before Congress on Capitol Hill.
